Bulgarian fighter plane Bulgaria’s Caravanserai will be the biggest fighter jet of the world, with a wingspan of about 100 meters (328 feet).
It will be built by a private company and will be the first to be delivered to the country.
The aircraft, named after Bulgaria’s national bird, will be able to carry as many as 12,000 kg (23,200 lbs) of cargo.
The plane will be powered by four Pratt & Whitney F100-GE-16 turbofan engines.
Bulgarian President Giorgi Stoychev said the plane would be a symbol of “the proud nation’s freedom and the strength of Bulgaria.”
Stoychev also said that Bulgaria will be one of the biggest beneficiaries of the $8.8 billion investment announced by President Bidzina Ivanishvili and his government in October, which will see Bulgaria become a permanent member of the European Union.
The president also said Bulgaria will begin construction of its own air base at Pristina, in central Greece, which is the closest port for the military aircraft.
